Prototyping in resin, then scanned in 3D, the proportions of the head adjusted, reduced and prepared for metal casting. The result is an impressive, noble chess game with black and white anodized figures, which together weigh a considerable amount. The classic C logo is embossed deep into the base of each piece. The whole ensemble is now cavorting on a canvas field – the original material from the Carhartt WIP range.
Matt chess: it’s about time time for a fresh breeze to blow into the dusty game. Take the well-known supernumeraries and put a fresh, hopeful young talent among them and watch as it rolls up the field from behind.
You don’t have to be a chess professional or Deep Blue to be able to calculate that there’s plenty of potential for a cult gadget being thrown onto the market here. In the sense of the English saying: “Bash a bishop”.
